Ossining Food Pantry

Dear Msgr. Vaughey,

As we have said before, there really are no words to fully express our gratitude for the wonderful generosity shown to the Ossining Food Pantry, and the individuals and families whom we serve, by you and the parishioners of St. Theresa's Church and Our Lady of the Wayside.

For example, in the year 2006, your contributions and in-kind donations of food on "Beef Stew Sunday" amounted to a total of more than $26,000.00. When that figure is added to the approximate $316,500.00 in contributions and in-kind donations received during the period 1991-2005, a total of $342,500.00 in donations has been raised through this special first Sunday of the month collection on behalf of the Pantry. And, when one is mindful that that total of $342,500.00 for the years 1991 through 2006 only reflects the amounts contributed at the monthly "Beef Stew Sunday" collection and does not include the amounts contributed so generously by the members of the parish as part of the Pantry's general fund raising efforts, the extent of that generosity and kindness is even more amazing. And, when one also reflects upon the numerous other ways in which St. Theresa's-Our Lady of the Wayside supports the Pantry, such as the wonderful work of the members of the Serve Committee, the Giving Tree, the donations from the students at St. Theresa's School and other special collections provided through the youth of the parish, the publicizing of the Pantry's needs and the recruitment of volunteers for special projects in the parish bulletin, and the countless and untold hours which are expended on the Pantry's behalf by the many volunteers who are also parishioners of St. Theresa's-Our Lady of the Wayside, it can only make one so very proud and privileged to be associated with St. Theresa's-Our Lady of the Wayside and all of those caring and sharing individuals. A special word of thanks also to Tom and Donna Gowan for their coordinating and overseeing the collection and delivery of the contributions' received each Beef Stew Sunday on behalf of the Pantry, and to the other first Sunday of the month volunteers who give so faithfully of their time in helping with this endeavor. God Bless.

Sincerely,
Martin B. Engelhardt, Jr. President
